Congratulations to Caleb who made it through two rounds of the UC San Diego Grad Slam public speaking competition to compete in the campus finals yesterday! This event involves presenting grad student research in a "TED-style" talk for a general audience. Evaluated by a panel of external judges, Caleb finished among the top 8 presenters from across campus!
Caleb Christianson wins First Place SPIE Best Student Paper Award at SPIE Smart Structures/NDE 2017!
Congratulations to lab member Caleb Christianson for winning the First Place SPIE Best Student Paper Award at the SPIE Smart Structures/NDE event this week in Portland Oregon! Caleb won for his paper entitled "Fluid electrodes for submersible robotics based on dielectric elastomer actuators". This award comes with a cash prize of $500.
Congratulations to lab member Tom Kalisky for winning the 2016/2017 Charles C. Hill Fellowship Award for excellence in innovation design! This competitive $3,000 fellowship is awarded to MS students in the UC San Diego Jacobs School of Engineering who specialize in the area of "innovative design."
